God put me

No longer a morning person

Got up early this morning in order to take my mom to her physical therapy appointment. Luckily, the place is really close to where we live. While Mom was doing her P.T. , I went to Barnes and Noble and used the $50 gift card my brother Thomas had given me for my birthday. I decided to buy Tamora Pierce's Immortals Quartet and the Protector of the Small Quartet. I've read her Song of the Lioness series and the Immortals series already. I will eventually buy her Trickster's series. I do believe that one is about one of Alanna's children. I did buy a book for an underprivileged kid. I just paid for it and they will give the book to a kid who needs it. I still haven't used the $15 gift card my brother Adib's girlfriend, Ayana gave me. I thought it was very sweet of her to get me a gift even though we haven't known each other for very long.

I hadn't checked my mail in a few days and the mailbox was loaded down with stuff. I have two US Weeklys to read now. Work last night was absolutely insane. I was in satellite and it felt like it was a Friday. I probably dubbed in around 60 commercials or so last night. All the departments are trying to get all their stuff done way in advance because of the upcoming holiday / four day weekend. Well, I'm working through Friday this week. Holiday pay rocks!

A new episode of House is coming on tonight and I'm on the board! I just have to remember to make sure our Kids programming actually starts at 6pm tonight. Crispin hasn't worked for the past month or so. We usually have to manually start the programming. It's really annoying. Our engineering department thinks we'll be automated within the next two years. HA! They can't even get the simple stuff to work right. How are they going to get the more complex stuff to work?

I'm finally getting around to listing the last box of books I bought at the Book sale. Here's the list.

The List )
I'm really on a Science Fiction kick right now. After reading Maggy Thomas'  "Broken Time" which was just plain great., I bought a new Sci-Fi book by Edward Willett called "Lost in Translation". I am almost done reading it and it is also a very good book.

I've got to start organizing my room and cleaning up the apartment a little bit. My cousin Sam and his girlfriend are staying with us for the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. He has to leave his dorm at NC State for the holidays. His girlfriend goes to some private college in South Carolina.

Well, I should probably get started on my errands. Later.

Fix you right up

The Best Part of Waking up is . . . in your. . ..

I set my alarm for 8am this morning. I hit the snooze button several times and around 8:30am I stretched like a cat would and got a really painful charlie horse in my left calf. My calf is still sore and tight even now. Luckily, the spasm only lasted :30 seconds. I will be limping for the rest of the day. During this time of extreme agony in which I'm writhing in my bed moaning with pain, my lovely furball of a cat Vita decides to jump on the bed and beg for attention. I literally scream at her, "Not now Cat!"

The reason for getting up so early is that I wanted to get to the book sale this morning as soon as it opened. I had to gas up my car and pick up my brother Thomas before going there. I got to see his big ass kitties for a few minutes. I gave them both a hug and they were both purring. We got to the book sale around 10:06am. There was already a huge line of people waiting to get inside. Several people were already coming out of the exit with hand trucks with boxes of books and what not. It was very slim pickings today on books. I did not get any of the Anne McCaffrey books. They were all gone. At least I know to buy them on the fourth day next year. I did manage to find a box full of science fiction/fantasy ones that interested me. Basically all that was left was hardcover. All the carts were taken and I stupidly had not brought a hand truck so I had to carry my box around. By the time I got to check out my arms felt like lead. Thomas carried both his box and my box to the car. I hadn't even bothered to go into the juvenile fiction section because it was overloaded with parents and kids.

I then drove us to my parents' place and we chilled for a bit. I finally managed to eat something. I left around 1pm and decided to go home and get a few things done before going to work. I am about halfway through one of the books I bought at the Sale called, "Broken Time" by Maggy Thomas. It's really good. I have to go to work now. I'll write up a list of the books I bought today when I get home tonight. Later.

Dr. Orpheus stern look

Can never have too many books!

Yesterday, I went and visited [info]insignia_void and [info]kas3dot0 .  We ate lunch at the Olive Garden.  I had the baked Ziti except I don't think it was actually baked.  I think they just put the cooked pasta put it in my dish and then poured the marinara sauce over it and added cheese.  It just didn't look like baked ziti.  My brother Thomas didn't want to drive through rush hour traffic to get to the book sale yesterday and decided that he would go Saturday (today) with me.  Void ended up buying  a  box full of books (I was totally an enabler.  I kept finding all these books I thought she would like).  I ended up getting only 7 books.  I knew that I'd be going back today and it's half off today!   Thomas is going to go nuts when he sees all the science fiction fantasy books!  He just got to my apartment so it's time for us to go to the book sale!  I so plan on going tomorrow as well!  Later.

Sleepy Cat

I love book sales!

I had stayed up a bit late last night so I got up this morning around 11:30am. I took my thyroid medication and then I gave [info]insignia_void  a call to ask her about the Wake County Public Library Book sale. She had gone yesterday with her sis. I must give Void props for the stellar directions! I only got lost on the way back from the book sale but that was my fault. I sort of lost my sense of direction. And yes, I ended up in Knightdale! I believe I went the wrong way on Newbern.

I found the place alright. I parked near where the garden center of the old K-mart used to be. Void had suggested that I park there because that's where people have to exit and that way I don't have to walk a long ways with a box of books. I could not believe the amount of books that were there! I believe they had about 500,000 books. As soon as I walked in, a lady gave me a map of where all the different types of books could be found. I think I spent about 2 hours rifling through the romance section trying to find all the supernatural ones that I like. I'm proud of myself. I only bought one really Romance Book. I did manage to find several of the supernatural ones. Some of the books are in really good condition. I found a few that look new.

I found a decent/good copy of Sophie Kinsella's "Can You Keep A Secret?". I already own this book but I knew Void was looking for this book, so I bought it. I'll be going back tomorrow afternoon/evening with my brother back to the book sale and will be meeting up with [info]insignia_void . It's still $4.00 for Hardcover and $1 for paperback tomorrow. It starts getting cheaper on Saturday, $2 hardcover, and $.50 for paperbacks. I am definitely going to go back early sunday morning and buy me a box of books for $5.00. You grab a box and fill it up with what you want and only pay $5.00. Bag of books will be $2.00. Now, the question will be: Where am I going to put all these books? I'm going to have to rearrange my bookshelves!   I did not eat anything the whole day until I got home.  I was so hungry and tired!  My neck is sore from looking down at all the books!
