Harry Dresden

It's been a while.

I realize that I have not posted in a month.  There has just been so much going on.  Let's see if I can summarize.

Apr. 7th, 2008

Rainy Day

The Past Month: An Update

Television:

Hell's Kitchen has started up again .  I aired the first show this past Tuesday night and of course I had to dump out of it for :05 seconds because Chef Ramsay decided to say "He's standing over there pissing his pants".  Piss cannot be said on television if it is referencing a bodily function.  Pissed off or telling someone to piss off is okay to air.   Another $50 in my pocket.  I love airing anything with Gordon Ramsay in it.  Dancing with the Stars started back up a couple weeks ago.  I am really liking it this season.  Shannon Elizabeth has surprised me a bit as well as Kristi Yamaguchi and Jason Taylor.  I haven't a clue as to who will actually win it.  American Idol is getting narrowed down as the weeks go by.  I am forced to watch it because I air it.  This season has just been okay for me.  I have no definite favorites.  The Tudors has started back up again.  The first episode aired last Sunday.  I need to watch last night's episode.  I really love that series!  I do watch Nascar every Sunday just so I can keep up with my Fantasy Racing.  It's kind of pointless since I always come in last place. Urgh!

School:

Right now I'm waiting for my professors to grade my final projects and etc.  I will probably know on Thursday night.  I am so hoping I get an A in both my classes.  Once I have my final grades I can then do my tuition reimbursement for this quarter.  The classes I took this past quarter were "Interpersonal Communication" and "Communication and Conflict".  I really learned a lot on how to be a better communicator.  This next quarter I will be taking "Organizational Communication" and "Effective Communication in the Workplace".  I was supposed to take "Group Dynamics and Team Building" next but it wasn't being offered this next quarter.  Yay!  I was not looking forward to that class.

Vacation:

June 19th-28th I will be in Dallas, Texas.  I will be visiting friends.  I love Facebook.  A friend of mine whom I met back in 2000 when I was on pilgrimage in Haifa, Israel found me on Facebook.  She and I share a mutual friend in Texas.  I will be staying with this mutual friend's mother.  My mother and a friend of ours will be going on this trip as well except they will leave on the 24th.  I'm staying longer.  I will be going to Florida for hte ultimate Florida vacation this September.  I will no longer be going to St. Maarten.  It kind of just didn't work out.  I will be going to Florida with a coworker of my Dad's who happens to be a friend to my family as well.  I can't wait.  I've never been to Florida and I want to see Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and etc.  I can't wait.

Work:

Work has pretty much been normal.  Nothing really new to report except that the really comfortable chair in Master Control (that was really good for my back) broke.  Now I have to sit on the old crappy chairs with my lower lumbr support cushion.  I really have to convince C.D. to get another chair.

Family:

I got my bridesmaid dress in two weeks ago.  I tried it on for Bridget and Thomas the other day.  They think I look great in it.  I really love the dark apple red color.  Bridget is keeping my dress for me.  I don't trust the cats not to destroy it one way or the other at my place.  Speaking of which, my and Thomas's lease is up in July.  We have to move out by July 25th.  Thomas will be moving in with Bridget.  I will be moving in with *Gasp* my parents.  This is only temporary.  They are only charging me half of what I pay now and I have to get a storage unit.  I will probably only be with them for a year.  I will be reducing my debt and saving money as well.  Once I graduate with my second degree, I will hopefully get a technical writing job which is going to pay a lot more than what I'm making now.  I will then move out.  My parents are looking forward to having me there.  I just hope we get along better now than when we did when I was younger.  Pray for me.  :)  Yesterday I met a first cousin of my mother's for the first time.  He currently lives in Papa New Guinea.  I didn't realize that I have relatives there as well as in Australian, England, Scotland, New Zealand, Holland, Gibraltar, and several states in the U.S.  My family on my mom's side is really spread out.

Reading:

I have been reading up a storm in the past month.  I've been reading a lot of Lora Leigh's Breed books.  I am addicted to that series.  I also read several of Christine Warren's "Others" series.  I read one of Patricia Brigg's earlier fantasy works.  It was okay.  I have an Amazon Kindle.  I absolutely love it.  As many books as I buy in a year, I will make up the price of it in six months and will then start to save money.  I am currently reading the first book in Piers Anthony's Xanth series called, "A Spell for Chameleon".  TCO at work leant me the first 3 books in this series.   I was not aware that she loves supernatural/paranormal books.  I have leant her five series:  Sookie Stackhouse, Betsy Taylor, Kitty Norville, Rachel Morgan, and Mercedes Thompson.  She is currently reading the Rachel Morgan series.  She likes it so far.  I like the book I'm reading so far.

Conclusion:
I need to start packing stuff up for the move.  I need to clean as well.  I just wish I hadn't slept the day away on Saturday.  I did get up early Saturday morning to go to this grocery store called, "Aldi's" in Cary.  It is a german store (owned by the same company that owns Trader Joes" and the food is really good and it is super cheap.  A 5 lb bag of sweet potatoes cost $1.69.  Unfreakingbelievable!  Scallops were $4.49 a pound.  Freaking cheap!  Everything is either cheaper than Wal-mart or the same price.  They save on cost by making the carts quarter-operated.  You put a quarter in and it releases the chain and you can now use the cart.  When you're done with the cart, you reattach it with the chain to the cart in front of it and your quarter pops out.  You get your quarter back.  Also, if you use their paper bags, you'll have to pay  a nickel for each.  I brought my own canvas reusable grocery bags that I had bought from Harris Teeter.  I love Aldi's.  My entire family loves Aldi's.

Finally updating

School has been keeping me on my toes. It was so much easier when I only worked part-time and was a full-time student. I love doing my classes online though. I love Kaplan. I finally decided to start doing Weight Watchers online two weeks ago. So far I've lost 6.8 pounds and lost it eating food that I like! I just have to watch my portions. I'm going to start with my exercising this week. I've actually managed to do a bit of reading recently. I finished the third book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs called "Iron Kissed". It was great. I finished the last book in the Noble Dead series called, "Child of a Dead God". I read the latest Aisling Grey Guardian novel, "Holy Smokes". I am planning to read the last two books in the Dante Valentine series, "Saint-City Sinners" and "To Hell and Back" once I'm done with my final projects this week. I will be spending all weekend doing schoolwork.

I think my first quarter has gone pretty well so far. Mom, Dad, and I are planning to go to St. Maarten (St. Martin) in September. Our stay will be free. I love that my mom gets a free week stay at any of the resorts that Divi owns which are all in the Caribbean. I'm saving up my money and am planning to do a lot of activities on our vacation. My room is so cluttered right now. I've got school crap all over it. It's driving me nuts. I'm going to have to straighten it all up before working on my schoolwork. Work is going well. New changes are coming and although I delight in learning something new, I can't help but anticipate some bugs and problems that are going to occur.

Giving a damn

Anticipation

I'm starting to get really excited about my upcoming trip to Trinidad and Tobago. I planned this trip since February and now that it's within 11 days, I am starting to get that "Vacation, hell yeah!" vibe going. My uncle has already asked me to bring a few things for him. My brother, Thomas, asked me to bring some stuff back for him from Trinidad. Thomas had stayed in Trinidad for a year after graduating high school. I just want to relax and have fun. I'm going to try and see if I can go on a glass bottom boat tour. I've always wanted to go on one.

What's been up with me recently? I haven't written on livejournal in two weeks. I'm getting slack again. Yeesh. Maybe this vacation will re-energize me. This past Friday I got an abdominal ultrasound. I've been having abdominal cramps in between my periods. It used to be constant but now it's more like once in a while. My doctor takes forever to report results back to me. I'm thinking I'll probably get an answer by the end of this week.

I finished reading the Rhapsody trilogy in the Symphony of Ages series by Elizabeth Haydon. It took forever, but it was damn good. I'm on the first book of the next trilogy in this series. I just ordered from B&N the next Black Dagger Brotherhood book "Lover Unbound". I can't wait to get it! I also ordered Voice of Crow by Jeri Smith-Ready. I really liked Eyes of Crow. I can't wait for the 25th. There are a few more books coming out that day that I've been waiting for.

My parents are going on vacation the exact same time I am. They're going to the Outer Banks.

I haven't been getting much sleep lately due to staying up reading and my brother's sometimes annoying cats. I leave the door open and they harass me. I close the door and they beat on my door and meow. I can't win.

A meeting on the moon

Heed all warnings lest you succumb!

ARRRGGGHHH! I have been hooked on this fantasy series called, "The Symphony of Ages" by Elizabeth Haydon. I read the reviews at the front pages of the first book "Rhapsody" and did I heed their warning of "You won't be able to put this book down and you won't be able to get anything else done!"? NO! I am halfway through the second book in this series. I am usually a very fast reader but it takes me forever to read these books. Not because it's boring, but because it's so detailed and I don't like to miss one word this author has written. I can't get enough of this series. I bought the first five books in Paperback. I'm going to wait until the sixth one is in Paperback in November. This is actually one fantasy series my brother has not yet read! Elizabeth Haydon is incredible! The first book came out in 99. I can't believe it took me this long to discover this series.
I thought Trudi Canavan's writing style was detailed and her books and plots very complicated, but Elizabeth Haydon puts her to shame in those aspects. I wonder at how Haydon even managed to keep all of this straight in her head. Yeesh! I bow to the mistress of epic fantasy! I wish I could meet her some day.
Well, 3:30 is coming soon. I have to go into work today, but I think I'm in satellite so I won't have much to do. More time for reading! Yay!

God put me

Hum Drum

Friday morning I got up around 6:30am and got to my brother's place at 7:30am. I had to drop Adib and Ayanna at the airport. They were going to Chicago for a friend's wedding. They got back Sunday.

I had a chat with my boss on Friday to talk about a few things that were bothering me. I think our talk went well. Work this weekend had its ups and downs. The news better start to learn to get out on time on Saturday or I'm going to pop a blood vessel. I don't have time to make up gained time during our crime show. The show is so tight and I'm not allowed to trim the bumpers anymore. Network starts immediately after the show and I have to hit it on time. Aggravating! Then Sunday when I went into network, our HD channel had bars coming from the network instead of the programming. I was on the phone with the network for at least 25 minutes trying to get this fixed. (I had run our network through frame sync in order to get the show to show up on HD. It wasn't in HD but at least the show was there.) In the midst of all this, I get a call from Chief J.G. I didn't even let him finish talking. I just said I'm on the phone trying to get this fixed and once that's done I'll call you back. He said, "ok".

I finished reading "Eclipse" by Stephenie Meyer. LOVED it! It is the best so far of that series. I can't wait for the next one. The book is super long but I just couldn't put it down. I just finished reading "Devil May Cry" by Sherrilyn Kenyon. My all time favorite supernatural series is her "Dark-hunter" series. I have EVERY book of that series. "Devil May Cry" was just awesome. It had quite a few surprises in there. EXCELLENT book!

September 25th is when "Lover Unbound" the fourth book of JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series is coming out. That's four days before my trip to Trinidad. I can't wait to read the book.

Angry Brock

Why?!?!

I just found out today via e-mail that my favorite Director for the news is leaving on July 26th.  NOOOO!  The last 3 times I was on the board, I had to deal with the director that I hate the most!  He has the audacity to blame me for not asking to check and see if we were routed properly over  the headset this past Wednesday.  (We sat in black for :20 seconds because we weren't routed properly.)  How could I ask when the director didn't even bother to get on the damn headset until my 15 second countdown?!?!  I really don't like that director.  He won't take any responsibility for his actions and always blames someone else.  Jerk!  I'm going to be very sad when my favorite leaves.

This past Saturday, the local crime show that we air had a 4:10 false start.  This was so NOT good.   After a good bit of bars aired, I hit my :30 second break and fast forwarded like there was no tomorrow!  Luckily, DVC Pro fast forwards SUPER fast.  I did manage to air the show in its entirety (got as close to where it cut off as I could) and also managed to get network started on time at 11pm.  I just feel as if I've had some really bad luck recently.  I just need to shake it off!  GO AWAY bad luck!

I am working on July 4th.  Yay!  Holiday pay kicks ass!    Since I last wrote in LJ, my one brother moved out to his townhome and his twin moved in with me.  My kitty went to my parents' place and my brother's two kitties moved into our place.  His female cat, Calypso, is warming up to me.  She kept bothering me this morning for attention.  I think part of it was due to them being out of food.  The male cat, Cassius, likes me but I'm not the one he prefers.  I'm okay with that.  My kitty has attached herself to my mother, and it seems that my mother now absolutely loves my kitty.  Go figure!

I've been doing a lot of reading lately.  I've been reading mostly contemporary romances and a few supernatural ones.  I have yet to read "White Knight" by Jim Butcher.  Shame on me!

I'm back to eating right and exercising.  I'm doing pretty well. I've been doing my cardio exercises, but I need to get started with my resistance band training again.  I hope to be smaller for my trip to Trinidad.  My goal is to be in really good shape by December.

Neverending Story

Yee-haw!

I finally got caught up on the shows I missed while I was gone.  I watched the season finale of "The Tudors".  It was really good.  I can't wait for the next season.  "So You Think You Can Dance" was really good.  The contemporary dance that Lacey and Cameron did was excellent.  The dancers who ended up leaving were the right ones to boot off.

I've been doing some reading.  I read Witchling and thought it was very good.  It's not as great as some of the other series I've read, but I do really like it.  I read the next book in the series called, Changeling.  This series seems to get better and better.  I have a new book called Stray.  I'm really on a reading kick right now.

Oh, I got my hair cut and dyed when I was in Minnesota.  Also, my cousin has two pet rats.  I actually got to hold one.  The nice rat's name is "Cow".  Very cute.

I finally got my review done today.  I got my yearly raise.  I didn't have much to do at work today.  No commercials or promos to dub.  Just two of my pathfire feeds and one dub request to do.  "Hell's Kitchen" is starting right now.  Got to go!

Butterfly Hands

Two more days

I've been preparing somewhat for my trip to Minnesota.  I'm leaving this Friday!  I worked 1st shift this past Friday to cover for [info]insignia_void.  I really don't like first shift all that much.  I have to park in the parking deck and the programming we air at times can be really boring.  I prefer 2nd shift.  I'm always busy doing something on that shift.  Yesterday was no exception.  The damn MLB game went way past 7pm.  It didn't end until 8:10pm.  I've gotten used to the baseball games going long now.

I realized on Friday that I had totally forgotten about my five year work anniversary.  It was May 13th.  C.D. told me that he had already done my review and that he was just waiting for some signatures.  I was like, "You could have reminded me!  I totally forgot about my 5 year anniversary!"  I can't wait for next year.  I get another week of vacation time!  Yay!

I just came back from having lunch with my parents.  Mom wanted me to go swimming with her yesterday but I really didn't feel up to it so I promised to have lunch with her and dad today.  I was there for about an hour and a half.  I have discovered another author that I really like.  I just finished reading all of Lori Foster's "Buckhorn Brothers" series books with the exception of the one about Casey.  I really like Foster's style.  She's a romance author though, not a supernatural author.  I did read the latest Sookie Stackhouse book, "All Together Dead".  It was excellent!  I can't wait for the next one.

The latest MaryJanice Davidson book is coming out on the 5th.  Two more days!  "Undead and Uneasy".  I can't wait.  Also, the latest Anita Blake book is coming out.  I've been on the fence on whether or not to continue with this series.  She's been driving me crazy.  The one thing that has me wanting to buy the next one is the fact that "Edward" is coming back for this one.  I'll give her another shot and if this one drives me nuts, then I'm just going to give up on this series.

The latest book in P.C. Cast's "Goddess" series is coming out on the 5th as well.  I'm going to have several books to take with me to Minnesota.  Yippee!

Neverending Story

Rachel Morgan series keeps getting better. * No Spoilers*

The Following is completely vague and generalized.  No specific details.  I finished reading "For A Few Demons More" last night.  I must say that Kim Harrison keeps getting better and better.  There were certain moments that I could not stop laughing for five minutes straight.  Several events/meetings that I wanted to see happen finally did happen in the book.  Only one event that I wanted did not occur.  I was a bit sad for one character at the end of the book.

I discussed the book a little bit with [info]insignia_void today.  I totally forgot to bring the book for her. It didn't even occur to me to bring it today.  For some reason, Void and I want to see Trent and Rachel hook up eventually, but we both agree that they have very strong conflicting personalities and it just wouldn't work out for them.  I just don't think it's going to happen.

I also finished reading "Chick and the Dead" which is the 2nd book in the Pepper Martin paranormal mystery series by Casey Daniels.  "Don of the Dead" was a very good book and I liked this one just as much.  It seems that even though the mystery gets solved, I am still left wanting answers for certain things in the book.  I guess it's the author's way of getting me to read the next one.  I'm cool with that as long as I get some answers eventually.  (It's not good to string along and keep people guessing for too long or they will lose interest, i.e. "Lost".)  I really can't stand to have things left hanging or unanswered.  This is the reason why I won't watch or read anything by Rumiko Takahashi.  I also gave up on Naruto for this very reason.  It is also the reason why I hate the ending of Hana-kimi so much.

I watched the latest episode of "Blood Ties".  This episode was okay.  I'm kind of hoping more will happen between Vicki and Henry in the next few episodes.  The latest episode of the "Dresden Files" was pretty good.  I just love Paul Blackthorne.  He's an awesome Harry.  I can't wait to watch the latest episode of "Dancing with the Stars" when I get home tonight.  My mom has been watching this show from the very first season apparently.  I just recently joined the bandwagon.  I really love that show.

Well, back to work.

Blood Ties

Blah.

I spent my days off this past weekend being absolutely lazy and it felt great.  Work on Monday was very light.  I had no commercials to dub and very few promos and a few feeds.  I got to read a lot that night.  I watched the latest episode of Blood Ties yesterday.  It was really good.  I really love that series.  I am currently halfway through the third book in the series.  I bought Beauty Pop Vol. 3 yesterday as well as Kim Harrison's "For a Few Demons More" in hardcover.  Beauty Pop, Vol. 3 was as funny as ever.  I think I'll wait until Thursday to start reading the latest in the Rachel Morgan series.  I'm still waiting for "Kitty Takes A Holiday" to come out in the stores.  It's available to order online, but I'd rather not order it yet.

I am currently watching "Dancing With the Stars".  I have NEVER watched this show before.  I'll reserve judgment until I'm done watching it.  Work last night was fine up until Entertainment Tonight.  I've pretty much blocked it out of my mind by now so I won't go into too much detail.  Let's just say, there was a minute of black where there wasn't supposed to be.  'nuff said.  I called Thomas yesterday and he had just gotten back from the Grand Canyon.  He thought it was awesome.  He's coming back Thursday.

Stressed?

Well, crap.

My brother Thomas and two of his friends went to the airport yesterday to catch their flight so they could be on their way to Italy.  Unfortunately, there was a really bad snow storm in Newark and their flight was the last flight of the day and could not be re-routed to another airport.  The earlier flights had already been re-routed.  The next flight available on their airline would have been Monday the 18th which of course would be the day after my oldest brother's wedding in Italy.  Even if they went on the 18th, they'd have to come back two days later which is just not worth it.  They did get their money back though for the tickets.  This just sucks!!!  Now, no one from my brother's side of the family is going to be there tomorrow.  I'm hoping at least Ann's side of the family made it there.  My brother was going to take my camcorder and record the wedding, but that's not going to happen now.

I just finished watching the latest episode of "Grey's Anatomy".  It was really good.  I did love watching "Blood Ties".  I think I've re-watched it several times already.  I can't wait for the next episode!  Zombies!!!  I can't wait for "The Tudors" to start.  That looks like it's going to be a really good series.

Work was normal yesterday.  Today is Friday and I'm in satellite which pretty much means that I'm going to get overloaded with commercials and promos to dub.

I finished reading Vol. 16 of Blade of the Immortal.  It was good.  I read Vol. 2 of Dramacon.  Dramacon is so freaking hilarious.  I can't wait for Vol. 3.  I am currently reading, "Predestined" by R. Garland Gray.  It's good so far.

Fix you right up

The Funniest Nightmare I've Ever Had

I woke up this morning dreaming of monstrous Giraffes trying to kill me.  Giraffes?  I love Giraffes!  I know they have powerful legs and can sometimes kill a lion with said legs, but, to actually dream of them acting like and being the size of dinosaurs.   I blame the damn lean pockets I had last night.

Yesterday went well for the most part at work.  The race did go over a little bit and we were on a slide all night, but all in all it was good.  I can't believe Jimmy Johnson won the Las Vegas race 3 years in a row now.  I was very happy to see that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. managed to actually finish the race this time.  I think Nascar is sucking me in this year.

I was very surprised as to two of the contestants that got voted off Idol this past Thursday.  Sundance and Sabrina?  Sabrina has an awesome voice and she did way better than Haley Scarnato.  Sundance's voice isn't as great as the others but still.  I'm amazed Sanjaya made it through though I think that's partly due to his looks than his voice.

The Wedding Bells premiere was as funny as I thought it would be.  Yet another series I'm hooked on now.  Damn.  I finished reading "Warlord" by Elizabeth Vaughan.  I absolutely LOVED it!  I'm sad to see the trilogy end, but I do hope that the author will write something else in the future.  I believe "Kitty Takes a Holiday" by Carrie Vaughn is going to be in the stores sometime in the next week or so.  It's the third in that werewolf series.  Also, I can't wait for the end of march when the next Rachel Morgan book will be available.  March is a good month for my books.  Yay!

Well, I've got some errands to run.  Later.

Get Fuzzy

J.R. Ward, what did I ever do before I read your books?

I spent the afternoon waiting for FedEx to deliver a package for my brother, [info]voteformcoqueen .  Yes, I managed to get one of my brothers to start doing livejournal.  Yay!  I just love the user name.  FedEx did not come before 3:30pm.  We've already missed this package twice already.  Damn them!  Now I'm going to have to sit around and wait tomorrow for this package.  Tomorrow is my day off and I want to go out and do things.   Oh well.

Work is really slow right now.  [info]insignia_void kicked major butt today in satellite.  I must give props to her.  Void let me know about a Durham County Public Library book sale that will be on April 13-15.  Here's a link to the website: http://www.durhamcountylibrary.org/pr/program.html#sale  .  I'll go at least one of those days.  It's not as big as Wake County's, but it'll at least satisfy me until the fall when the Wake county one will happen again.

I think I've already read J.R. Ward's "Lover Revealed" five times already.  It's the fourth in her Black Dagger Brotherhood series.  I really love that series.  It just keeps getting better and better.  Elizabeth Vaughan's "Warlord" just came out. I must go get it.  I loved the first two books in the trilogy, "Warprize" and "Warsworn".  I love her style of writing and the whole premise to this trilogy.

Last week's Gilmore Girls episode was pretty good.  This week's was just, "Blah".   House last night was pretty good though.  Oh, the majority of the boys just sucked last night on American Idol.  I'm hoping the girls do better tonight.  I'm actually looking forward to watching "The Wedding Bells".  It looks really funny and entertaining.  David E. Kelley is the writer and I've liked several of his shows i.e. Boston Public, Ally McBeal, & Girls Club.

Well, I should get back to work and check some shows.  Later.

Cluttered

Hurry up and get here March 6th!!!!!

For the past month, I have been re-reading over and over again the first 3 books in J.R. Ward's "Black Dagger Brotherhood" Series.  The fourth book is due out March 6th.  I can't wait!!!!  I never get tired of reading this series.  I honestly think it is #1 in my favorites of Vampire Series books.  I just love J.R. Ward's style.

I managed to put in all the books that I have in my room in my book collector software.  I think I'm addicted to scanning.  Quite a few of my books are being loaned to friends right now (Void and Eclipse).  I can remember some of them, but the rest will have to wait to be scanned until I get them back eventually.  Since I had no more books to scan, I decided to scan in all my Manga under a separate database in Book Collector.  I thought I might as well categorize them differently. I've almost got all of them scanned in right now.

After I'm done with that, I'm going to go put in all my personal details for each book and manga or I might just start scanning my movies and games in with my Movie Collector and Game Collector software.

Work went well yesterday.  No problems at all which leads me to believe that today is going to be a huge pain in the kiester due to that it's raining and the damn network satellites are really touchy when it rains.  I hate seeing network glitch and freeze for a half a second frequently.   I'm hoping that the rain won't be a problem and that the race will end on time.  A girl can always hope.

Well, I'm off to clean the kitchen.  Later.

A meeting on the moon

Elizabeth Montgomery rocks!!!!

Okay.  I went a little nuts Thursday.  I had gone to look specifically for one book at Barnes and Noble and realized that the Buy one TV Box Set Get One Free sale was ending soon.  Tuesday, in fact.  I found the first four seasons of "Bewitched".  I love that show!  I only paid for two and got the other two free!!!  Too cool!  I also bought the first 3 seasons of the "O.C."  (yes, I like that show.  It is too funny.)  and the first season of "Melrose Place".  Of course I only paid for two of these and got the other two free.  I also bought several chick-lit bargain books.  These books normally cost 13 bucks and I got them for 5 bucks.  The one book I was looking for is "Blood Bound" by Patricia Briggs which is the sequel to "Moon Called" which both Tiff and I love.  I have already read "Blood Bound".  It was really good.

I managed to read another chick-lit book called, "HIssy Fit" by Mary Kay Andrews.  It was ho-hum.  I was a bit disappointed with the ending.  My computer still isn't fixed.  My brother is going to buy a fan tomorrow and install it as well. I NEED my computer.  I swear I'm addicted to my computer as well as Barnes and Noble.

My dad had the day off Friday, so I spent the morning at my parents' apartment.  I ate breakfast and watched "The Dresden Files".  For those who haven't read the series, the show will look really great and promising. I of course couldn't help but notice the many inconsistencies with the books.  However, I still think it's pretty good and very entertaining.  After watching the show, Dad and I went back to my apartment to play with the "Wii".   We bowled and then played Tennis.  Dad loved it!  He wants to get mom to play when she and Dad are coming to my apartment on Wednesday.  Mom hasn't been able to visit yet because of her bad knees.  Now her knees are great and so she'll be able to climb the stairs and come visit.

Well, I can't write anymore now.  It's getting too close to the news.  Later.

Neverending Story

No longer a morning person

I used to be a morning person.  In college, I had no trouble getting up early and going to classes.  The four years I worked overnight, I did just fine in the morning.  I wouldn't go to sleep until 12pm or so.  Now, as a 2nd shift person, I have a very hard time getting up early.  I had to do so today because I had an appointment with my car dealership to get my car checked for this Recall that is on it.

The recall was for a part dealing with the engine.  The words "may cause an engine compartment fire" really spurred me on to get my car checked out.  It's free to get it checked.  The last time I had a recall notice was on my Sentra and lo and behold M.G. and I were on our way to one of the ethics sessions in Raleigh when the Recalled part turned off my car while I was on I40.  Not a fun day.  I didn't have to pay anything for the towing or the part replacement since it was the fault of the recalled part.  I have been very paranoid about recalls since then.

Luckily, after an hour and a half of waiting, I find out that my engine is fine.  I also got a free oil change today!  Yay!  I was so so sleepy!  I came home, grabbed something out of the fridge for my mom, dropped it off at her place, picked up two deposits for her and went to her bank and deposited it.  Then I brought the slips back to her place.  Vey-lo was very happy to see me.  She was purring her head off.  I went back to sleep around 11:30pm and woke up around 3:00pm.  It was a good nap.

I finished reading "A Girl's Best Friend" by Elizabeth Young.  It was very funny and very good.  I really like Elizabeth Young.  She's getting right up there with Sophie Kinsella.  Her style is very different from Sophie's though.

Whoops.  I just remembered that I need to edit a Mathis right now.  Later!!!

Bite Me

GRRRRRR!

Damn computer!  Why can't it go more than 2 years without a major hitch?  Seriously?  Why not?  My computer is just constantly rebooting right now.  It won't load windows.  On one screen it recognizes my hard drives and then on the next, it doesn't.   My brother thinks that my fan is bad and my computer is overheating.  I sure hope that's it.  I bought the motherboard 2 years ago.  It better not be the motherboard!!!!

I never realized how addicted I was to my computer until I couldn't use it anymore.  It's currently turned off and will remain that way until I get a new fan.  I can't check my work e-mail from home anymore.  I don't remember the web address so I can't check it on my brother's computer.  I always had it saved on my computer.

I finished reading "Asking for Trouble" by Elizabeth Young.  (Another British Chick-lit author).  The book was very funny and I enjoyed it immensely.  I have another book by her that I'm currently reading right now.  It's called "A Girl's Best Friend".

I've found another vampire killer series:  "Candace Steele Vampire Killer" series.  I haven't read the first book yet.  I'm hoping it's as good as Anita Blake but not as PORNOish.  The Anita Blake series was so good up until the last few.  Now, I have to force myself to continue reading that series.

Not too much to do at work today.  A few commercials, a few promos, a few shows to check, and etc.

I've been on a fruit dehydrating spree.  I have a dehydator at home.  I've dried bananas, strawberries, apples,  grapes (making raisins) , and kiwis.  The dried strawberries and bananas are awesome with cheerios and milk!  Yum!!!

Well, I should probably pull my tapes now.  Later.

Moe

This and some of that.

This past week has been really hectic.  Lots and lots of premieres, which means rolling our primary commercial server, the backup, and a commercial dub reel on a tape.  Can't afford to miss airing any of those expensive spots!

I went grocery shopping today.  Normally, I would go early in the morning to avoid huge crowds, but, unfortunately I didn't get up until 1:30pm.  I think I finally got to Super Wal-mart at 3pm.  It was so crowded!  I had stopped at the B&N at Brier Creek before going to Wally world.  It was crowded as well.  I went to Earthfare and bought a few things as well.

I managed to finish reading Erin McCarthy's "High Stakes:  A Tale of Vegas Vampires."  It was good.  Not great, but just good.  It had its funny moments.  It's also a part of a series.  I have the next book.  I think I'm going to go ahead and finish reading "The Becoming" by Jeanne C. Stein.  I have so many books that I'm halfway or almost done reading that are sitting on my bookshelf.  I am determined to finish them soon.

Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be crappy.  I'm just going to stay home and finish organizing my room.  Later.

Giving a damn

People who wear profane shirts on national t.v. should be shot!!!!!

Ugh!!!!  Saturday, I was in Satellite checking a feed and apparently missed a camera shot of a fan with a shirt that said, "Fuck Da' Eagles" in large gold letters on it.  The shirt was black.  My boss informed me of this when he came in later that night to help out with the news.  I knew nothing about it since I had been in satellite.  I had been recording the game so he took the record tape and showed me.  I swear that bitch should be shot!  I'm pretty sure every Fox affiliate who didn't dump out at this time is going to get fined a half a mil each.  Double ugh!  If I had seen it, and not dumped out, then and only then would I feel bad about it.  I can't keep my eye on the screen for 8 hours straight.  It's impossible.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately.  I finished Susan Elizabeth Phillip's "Nobody's Baby But Mine" and the sequel "Dream a Little Dream".  Both are very good.  I keep reading the books over and over again.  The sequel is an e-book I bought online.  I have lots of e-books.  I go from reading off of Microsoft reader on my computer to reading actually books that I have bought.  It took a little getting used to in order to read books with Microsoft reader.  I've done it so much now that I'm very comfortable with it.

I was dubbing in a commercial for the "1st Annual Raleigh Blues Festival" that's going to be at the RBC center on February. 23.  I immediately called my Dad.  He loves Blues music!  I'm so going to buy tickets even if I can't get them free through work.

I'm hungry.  I'm going to go eat now.  Later.
