Arizona Day Seven/ It's good to be home!

Yesterday was a really long day. I slept in till about 11am Pacific time. I didn't really do much until it was time to get dressed for the wedding. My cousin Danny's wedding was held at this resort called, "Sanctuary". Apparently it just got named the #1 resort in the United States. The wedding was held outside on the lawn. It was so beautiful! It was a Jewish wedding. The weather was excellent! The ceremony itself wasn't very long, but the reception seemed to go on forever. They even had an hour for cocktails! I probably would have liked that if I actually drank alcoholic beverages. I have indeed now a huge love for Perrier. It's just carbonated water, but it seriously kicks butt! Oh, here's the menu for the reception: First Course: Warm Pear Salad on Arizona Greens Point Reyes Blue Cheese, Spiced Walnuts, Roasted Garlic Vinaigrette. Sorbet Intermezzo. (The Pear Salad was awesome and the Sorbet tasted like homemade. It was great!) Entree: Prime Grilled Fillet of Beef with Wild Mushroom Demi-Glace, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Fire Roasted Asparagus. (There was a choice of Beef or Chilean Sea Bass.) Fresh Baked Rolls and Butter. Dessert: Wedding Cake, Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, Assorted Cookies, Elegant Coffee Service with Sugar sticks, Chocolate Shavings, Freshly whipped cream.

My steak looked like it was cooked well done from the outside. It was actually cooked RARE! I always eat steak as Well Done or Medium Well. I do not like to see my steak looking red and bloody. I ate the steak without looking at it. It actually was very tender and I liked it. At least now I know that I can eat Rare steaks as long as I don't actually look at it. We stayed at the wedding until about 10pm Pacific time. As soon as we got back to the hotel/resort room, I finished my last minute packing. We did not go to sleep. Our flight was at 5:30am Pacific Time. We needed to be at the airport around 3:30am to return our rental car and to get through security on time. We got to the car rental place around 4am and had to take a shuttle to the airport. (The car rental place is about 10 minutes from the airport). Varqa had a jar of salsa in one of the carry-on bags and they wouldn't let him take it on the plane. Our flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to Dallas Fort Worth took an hour and a half on American Airlines. Poor Ann and Varqa were cramped on the plane. They had no leg room whatsoever. We were sitting towards the back of the plane.

Dallas Fort Worth Airport is freaking huge! We had to take 3 carts on 3 different levels just to get to gate D31. At one point part of the airport goes over the freeway. (They have a train that'll shuttle you to the correct terminal.) We had maybe about a half hour before we started boarding for our flight to RDU. I bought us each a bottle of water to drink on the plane. Luckily, they have moved us to the first row behind First Class and we had tons of leg room. That flight lasted about 2 hours. We actually arrived a half hour early. Adib picked us up and we went to my parents' apartment. (The weather in Phoenix all week had been in the mid 80's with a light breeze and no humidity and then I come home to 52 degree weather with fog and light rain.) My and Varqa's car was there. We were all starving. Luckily, Dad had cooked spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. After stuffing myself, I gave out the gifts I had bought for my family members. They all liked their gifts. I then drove home. I was too tired to carry my bag up the stairs. I left it in the trunk and asked Adib to bring it up when he got home. Vita was thrilled to see me! She would not leave my room for the first hour I was home. I was so exhausted that I just decided to go right to sleep. I slept from 5pm to 8am. I was really really tired. I woke up to Vita sleeping on the bed with me.

I'm glad I went on this trip. I got to meet a lot of relatives I had just only heard about. Several of them are planning to come here for Varqa and Ann's wedding reception in April. Well, I need to get organized. Later.

Arizona Day Six

Chilled out for the first part of the day. I did manage to make it back to See's Candies again. Their chocolates and sweets are absolutely irresistible. This evening Ann, Varqa, and I went to Danny's rehearsal dinner. The dinner was for all the relatives and friends who came from out of town. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. I finally got to meet my Great Aunt Marcia. She gave me some red gold drop earrings that my grandmother had worn at my mom's wedding. Aunt Marcia had complimented my grandmother on the earrings and Persian custom dictates that she then give them to the person who complimented her. Aunt Marcia kept refusing to take them until my mom told her that if she didn't accept them, my grandmother would be insulted. Aunt Marcia said that she has enjoyed wearing these earrings for the past 30 years and that her children really wouldn't appreciate them. She gave them back to me since they really belong to my family anyway. I put them on right away. I haven't worn earrings in forever.

I also got to meet my Crazy Cousin Dave. I had heard stories about his antics and personality. He lives up to the hype. He is too funny. My cousin Danny was giving a speech and giving a gift to one of his friends whose pants were really low on him and showing his underwear. Dave yells out, "Watch out! Crack-attack!". We were all trying so hard not to laugh during Danny's speech. Dave wore a nice sports coat and nice shirt with shorts! He hates wearing pants. There were some great desserts . We all had a lot of fun. I felt kind of bad for Ann and my cousin Laura's Husband, Akbar. Everyone there was white except for them. There's not a lot of racial variety on my dad's side of the family.

I just got back from the dinner. The wedding is tomorrow at 6pm. We're not going to be able to sleep tomorrow night because we have to be at the airport around 3:30am. Our flight is at 5:30am. We have to return our rental car. We don't have a straight flight this time though. We have to stop at Dallas Fort Worth first. I think we wait for 2 hours and then get on a straight flight to RDU. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I'll be back in good ole Carolina Sunday afternoon.

Oh, Adib called me and told me that my cat, Vita, is pissed at me. She vomited on my bed. The cat hardly ever vomits. If she ever does vomit, it's never on my bed. I'm going to have to work hard to get back on her good side once I'm home. Well, I need to get some sleep. Later.

Flying Witch

Tonight felt more like a Monday than it did a Friday. I got my usual amount of commercials and a few promos. One or two extra feeds, but I managed to get everything done by 11pm. I usually leave early if I'm finished with everything, but since J.G. (Not John, the other J.G.) is here I don't think that would be a good idea. Plus, A.W. wants me to be here in case anything happens. I'm cool with that.

I am hoping to sleep well tonight because I have a ton of stuff to do tomorrow. First thing to do is to get started on my laundry. Second, I will be going to Best Buy with my brother to buy my laptop, and then third, around 4pm I have to be at my parents' apartment in order to get my hair cut. My mom's friend is going to cut my hair there. I can't wait! My hair is too heavy and I feel it putting a strain on my neck sometimes (especially if I wear it in a ponytail). Last, but not least, I must pack everything! I just know I'm going to forget something. I almost always do.

I have no make-up. I must borrow some lipstick from my mother. How sad is that? I even have to borrow some jewelry from her as well. I am so not a girly-girl. *Sigh* One of these days I'll care more about dressing up, I hope.

I know my cat, Vita, is going to miss me. She is going to drive Adib crazy. Either she'll drive him crazy or will sleep in my closet all the time. She practically sleeps in my closet all the time already. If I haven't seen her for a few hours, I just have to look in my closet and she's in there sleeping on a box. I'll miss my kitty.

Books, Cake, and a Hyperactive Cat

Work went well tonight. Nothing exciting happened, which is always a good thing when working 2nd shift. [info]insignia_void brought me a box full of books from [info]insigniaeclipse (Thanks for the books! I can't wait to start reading them!). She put it in the trunk of my car because it was just too heavy/cumbersome to bring inside the building. I did however manage to carry the box up two flights of stairs and into my apartment. You've got to love handles on boxes. My cat started rubbing up against the box and then started scratching it. I guess she has officially "approved" the books being in my room.

Speaking of my cat, Vita was just going nuts when I got home. She kept running up and down the hall really fast. I think she was having her "midnight crazies" as Rob from "Get Fuzzy" would say. Every time I approached her, she would just take off running. She is so cute when she runs. All I can see is the big ball of fur running back and forth. She has so much fur because she is a pure bred Silver Tabby Persian. Her fur gets everywhere. I think she finally calmed down now. She is currently chillin' on my bed.

I did finally decide to cook my healthy cake, and I even managed to remember to bring a piece for my boss, C.D. He is always complaining that I never bring him anything that I bake. So, today I walked into his office and gave the piece of cake to him. He thought the cake was really good.

The new season of Gilmore Girls started tonight. I am going to watch the new episode in the morning. I'm just too tired to watch it right now. I absolutely love "Gilmore Girls". I've watched every episode. "House" was really good tonight. I got to watch it because I was on the board. "House" just keeps getting better and better.

I need to stop by my Doctor's office tomorrow and get a blood test done, so I can get a renewal of my prescription for my thyroid medication. I really hope I remember.

Well, I guess I'll go to sleep now.
