Arizona Day Four
It took four hours to get to the Grand Canyon. It was really neat to see the temperature and terrain changes on the way there. We took highway 180 and it was the creepiest road I've ever been on. There were dark clouds above us and some ice hit the windshield for a few seconds and then all of a sudden it's nice and clear. We saw these really odd looking white barked trees. We saw some trees on both sides of the road that had been burned down. I really don't want to go back on the highway. It just seemed to go on forever. We had to pay a 25.00 parking fee to get into the Grand Canyon Park. We stopped at several viewpoints. It is absolutely breathtaking. Both Ann and Varqa took a lot of pictures. On the road that ran parallel to the Grand Canyon, Ann and I saw a Road Runner zoom across the road in front of our car. They are tiny and fast little buggers. I finally saw one! Woo-hoo!
It was really cold at the Canyon. It must have been in the mid 50's to lower 60's with a really cold wind. We stopped to eat at one of the view points (had a cooler with our lunch in it) and about froze my hands off. After staying at the Canyon for an hour and half, we then drove back down to Sedona. Sedona is famous for its Red Rock Cliffs. It is absolutely gorgeous. After driving all the way down a steep mountain, we got to the city of Sedona. It is such a tourist trap! It reminds me of Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach. The area is absolutely beautiful though. We took lots of pictures. I managed to get the final gift I was looking for and that was a funny T-shirt for my brother Thomas. All gift shopping is done for me! Yay! I drove from Sedona back to Scottsdale. It took about 2 hours. I am currently eating dinner and just relaxing. I don't plan to do much tomorrow. It's been a really long fun day. Later.
