Super Green

Happy New Years!

Yesterday was a very long day for me at work.  I think I called my boss 5 times and the programming director once.  I really want to forget yesterday ever happened except for Chris Daughtry performing live in Times Square.  That was completely awesome!  I love his voice.

I unlocked the door of my apartment and realized that my brother had the chain on the door and I couldn't get in.  I had to yell his name about 3 times before he came out of his room and unlocked the chain for me so I could get in.  He's been battling a bad cold/flu for the past two days  and now I think I've caught it from him.  My throat is really sore and I'm starting to get stuffy.  I've been gargling with saltwater.  It's supposed to help with a sore threat.  It really makes me want to gag though.

Today at work should be very quiet.  I'll have no commercials or paids to dub.  I think I'll get quite a bit of reading done.  Speaking of reading,  I finished reading "Rebel Fay" by Barb and J.C. Hendee.  GREAT book!  I love the Noble Dead series.  I also read "The Smoke Thief" by Shana Abe.  Very good historical paranormal romance book!  I am halfway through reading "The Dream Thief" which is the sequel of "The Smoke Thief".  I'm back to my reading all the time stage.  I went for two weeks without reading anything. (Seriously scary for me!  I always read!)

It's raining like crazy today and my umbrella decided to break on me.  Just great!  I'm going to have to buy a new one.  I just finished watching "Immortal".  It' s a visually stunning Sci-fi movie.  A little strange, but I like it!  I did watch "Clan of the Cave Bear".  It was okay.  The book goes into more detail and has way more character depth.

I've got to get ready for work.  Later.

Save Me

Was today a vacation day? Yeesh.

I went to sleep last night around 2am and got up around 8am in order to get to my 9:10am dental appointment on time.  It seems that my teeth and gums get more sensitive each time.  It's currently 6pm and my gums and teeth are still aching.  No cavities for me!  Yay!  It's been almost 2 years since I've had to do a filling!  Immediately after my appointment, I went to my mom's apartment.  She made me some nice breakfast and then we went to the bank to make a deposit and afterwards we went to the gym at her work place so she could loosen up her knees on the bike.  After that, we went to Michaels and mom got her a few things to help fix some of her necklaces.  I dropped mom back at her place and then went straight to my brother Thomas's apartment.

I hadn't seen his kitties in forever.  They are huge and are probably going to get even bigger.  Thomas and I went and saw "Eragon" in the movie theater.  I was a bit disappointed.  The movie wasn't bad or anything like that, it just crammed so much into so short of a time.  The events in the movie went too fast.  There was almost no character build up.  When one of the important characters died, I didn't feel sad, instead, I felt bored.  It does have a lot of action but just no substance.  The book is so much better.  I wish they had taken the time to do this movie right and go in depth like "The Lord of the Rings" movies did.  Eragon was not even quite 2 hours long.  They left out quite a bit and changed a few things around.  Why do I bother to go see movies that are based off of books that I have read?  I get so disappointed.  I loved the LOTR's movies probably because I've never read the books.  I also loved the A&E miniseries of "Pride and Prejudice" with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.  Watching that mini-series was exactly like reading the book.  They left nothing out which is probably why I watch it over and over again.

After the movie, Thomas and I went to Biaggi's Italian restaurant.  Their food is awesome!  I had the Chicken Parmesan with pasta.  I didn't eat much of it.  I took the rest home.  I had an incredible dessert.  I had the Spimoni (ice cream sundae with cherry, pistachio, and chocolate-chocolate chip ice cream with fresh strawberries and chocolate and raspberry syrups).  It was purely sinful!

I am currently at home and waiting for Adib to get home.  He and I are going to play Mario Kart for a while tonight.  I can't wait.  I've been practicing.  I'm getting a lot better with the driving.  Oh, I didn't work today because I had one vacation day left and had to use it before the end of the year and I just told C.D. to pick a day.  He picked today.

I saw a Fox the other night when I was driving home.  I think that's the first time I've seen a fox that wasn't in the Zoo.  I found out yesterday that the head of our programming department lives in the exact same apartment building that I live in.  She's on the bottom floor, and I'm on the very top floor.  Weird, huh?  She's lived here for 8 years, while I moved here back in July.

Well, time to kick butt in Mario Kart!  Later.

Movies based on Books! Too cool!

I can't wait to go watch Eragon in December. I had already read it and Eldest before I even knew they had made a movie out of Eragon. I meandered my way over to www.imdb.com today and saw a trailer for "Arthur and the Invisibles" which is a movie based on the book "Arthur and the Minimoys" which I have but have yet to actually read. The trailer looks really cool! I can't wait to see this movie. Here's a link to the trailer: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0344854/trailers-screenplay-E29532-10-2 I love it when books get turned into movies just as long as they don't completely change the ending or change a major character or something stupid like that. I can't stand it when that happens!

How tall are you?

Random Thoughts

Today, for some reason, I just started thinking about old game shows that I used to love to watch. "Press Your Luck" was one of my favorites. No Whammies! No Whammies! Also, "Name That Tune" was really good. I used to be amazed if someone could guess the tune in just ONE note. Too cool. I used to love watching the game show network when I had cable.

Sometimes when I hear a song, I think of a specific movie. For example, Guns 'n' Roses' song "Welcome to the Jungle" instantly gets me thinking of the movie, "Lean On Me", because the song was playing throughout the opening of the movie. Also, Guns 'n' Roses' song, "Paradise City" reminds me of the movie, "Can't Hardly Wait". "Stay" by Shakespeare's Sister makes me recollect the movie, "Highlander".

I went this morning to my brother Thomas's apartment to feed his kitties. They are just too cute! Thomas is in Myrtle Beach right now. He'll be back tomorrow afternoon, I think. I just realized today that I don't own any luggage. (The last time I flew somewhere it was to Israel and that was back in 2000) I then immediately called my dad and asked if I can borrow one of mom and dad's suitcases to take with me to Arizona. They have nice luggage. I talked with my oldest brother, Varqa, and he also doesn't have his own luggage. I agreed to let him use the largest suitcase and I'd use the slightly smaller one and the carry-on. I'm only going to be gone for a week.

I haven't been able to read much, especially over the weekend, but the few minutes I did get was spent on reading the first "Pern" book. I LOVE Pern! I'm right now at the part, F'lar and Lessa discover that the threads have been falling for about a week and because it's cold it has been turning into dust. F'lar then decides that they're going to go back in time to a week ago to start destroying the threads. Damn, I LOVE this series!

I watched "Dances with Wolves" the other day. I love Mary McDonnell. She's the President on Battlestar Galactica. She's in "Dances with Wolves". I am debating on whether or not to watch "Overboard" , "Hairspray" or "The Whole Ten Yards" today. I'm too tired to read right now. I'm afraid I'll fall asleep and then be late for work.

Stressed?

Waking up early sucks.

I got up early yesterday morning to go to my doctor's for a physical. Everything's good except for my occasional bouts of vertigo. They aren't often and don't last but for a few seconds. My doctor thinks it's due either to my eyesight (haven't had my eyes checked in 3 years) or it's an inner ear problem. After going to the doctor, I then went to the chiropractor. My back bugs me every once in a while. [info]insignia_void came over yesterday afternoon. She had a meeting at work earlier and just wanted to hang out before work at 4pm. We chatted and relaxed until 4.

Today, I got up early to go see my eye doctor. I need a new prescription (Shocking? Not!). I hope I get my new lenses before I go to Arizona. I was supposed to chat with my best friend [info]maryjane7547 today before going to work but I had forgotten that I had promised my brother that I would go see the movie "Open Season" with him. It was good. Sorry about that MJane! My bad. I definitely won't be doing anything tomorrow and will be on-line at the usual times. My brother and I did eat at Firebird's. Their food is awesome!

Bought some books and a 2007 calendar using my Southpoint gift card. My brother made me buy him a book. Ahh, free books. Nothing better! Work is okay today. I'm not really getting a lot of stuff to dub, which is always good. Baseball playoffs start tonight. Ugh! I better get back to working. Later.

Kissing

Been busy reading

I love my days off. I actually get a chance to clean and to read! I also get to see the rest of my family which is always good. I just finished reading two vampire books that were really good. I reviewed both at the supernatural book community that I joined earlier this week. It's called [info]super_books . My dad's birthday was on the 13th. We just bought him his present (a 100 dollar gift card to Best Buy). He's going to love it. I have to stop by sometime today and give it to him.

I just finished watching all the Police Academy movies again. It doesn't matter how many times I watch those movies, I still like them.

I ordered 3 books from B&N a couple days ago. I ordered "Bitten & Smitten" by Michelle Rowen (I have another book of hers called, "Angel With Attitude" that I really liked.), "Blue Moon" by Lori Handeland (It's a Werewolf series that was recommended to me by a fellow supernatural book lover from [info]super_books ), and "Magic Study" by Maria V. Snyder (the first book was "Poison Study" which is a really good book. I have lent it to [info]insignia_void.) I think I'll try and get some more reading in before I have to go to work tomorrow.

One Busy Day

Marchioness is the title of the wife of a Marquess. Marquess ranks below a Duke, but above an Earl. Wow, I am a titled Vampire! Marchioness of Persia of all places. [info]insignia_void gets the cool name with a Killer reputation. [info]insignia_magnus gets a pretty cool name too.

After getting 3 and a half hours of sleep, I got up and went grocery shopping. By the time I got back and put everything away, I had an hour before I had my friend's daughters, an 11 year old and a 7 year old, came to visit. They were here for over 2 hours. At first we were watching a movie, "Akeelah and the Bee". Part of the way through it, they decided they wanted to play a computer game. Fortunately, I have a few computer games that are kid friendly. We ended up playing Zoo Tycoon 2 for the rest of the visit. The girls' parents came to pick them up around 3:00pm. They were glad that I could watch the girls while they went grocery shopping. It was fun. They are really kind and well behaved children.

I then decided to finish watching "Akeelah and the Bee." It is a very good movie and it is also heart-warming. Since, I was on a movie kick, I decided to watch "Take the Lead" with Antonio Banderas which is based on the true story of Pierre Dulaine. It is also a really good movie. It's only 8pm and I am wiped. I think I'll go to sleep now.
